Flooding caused by prior excessive rainfall is expected. WHERE
Northeastern Braxton County in north central West Virginia
East Central Gilmer County in north central West Virginia
Central Lewis County in northern West Virginia
WHEN
Until 800 AM EDT. IMPACTS
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Some roads remain closed due to flooding. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- At 500 AM EDT, doppler radar indicated heavy rain had fell across the warned area on Saturday, ranging anywhere from 1 to 4 inches. Lingering high water is expected across portions of the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include
Weston, Stonewall Jackson, Burnsville, Sand Run, Walkersville and Horner. - This includes the following highways
Interstate 79 between mile markers 74 and 100. Route 33 between mile markers 1 and 6. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
