Southeastern Athens County in southeastern Ohio
Northeastern Gallia County in southeastern Ohio
Meigs County in southeastern Ohio
Southwestern Washington County in southeastern Ohio
North Central Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia
Southwestern Wood County in northwestern West Virginia
North Central Mason County in western West Virginia
WHEN
Until 200 PM EDT. IMPACTS
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- At 1008 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - The gauge on the Shade River has breached 16 feet, or minor flood stage, and continues to rise. At that stage, the low spot on Scout Camp Road near Sugar Run Creek bridge floods. Agricultural fields adjacent to river begin to flood. - Some locations that will experience flooding include
Parkersburg, Athens, Pomeroy, Coolville, Rutland, Forked Run State Park, New Haven, Mason, Tuppers Plains, Washington, Lubeck, Mineralwells, Middleport, Chester, Syracuse, Hartford City, Darwin, Reedsville, Belleville, and Portland. - This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia near mile marker 151

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely. && LAT
