Tonight A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 2 am for areas south and east of Washington DC.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts are possible Friday afternoon and evening. Heat indices may approach 105 mainly south of Highway 50 Friday.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE SOUTHWESTERN DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA AND THE CITY OF FALLS CHURCH AND ARLINGTON AND EAST CENTRAL FAIRFAX COUNTIES
At 1224 AM EDT, emergency management reported multiple water rescues in the vicinity of Commonwealth Road, Glebe Road, and Wilson Avenue with multiple vehicles stalled out in high water. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 30 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include
Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield, Vienna, Groveton, Falls Church, Huntington, Mantua, Pimmit Hills, Crystal City, Reagan National Airport, Burke, Lincolnia, Tysons Corner, Franconia, Merrifield, Lake Barcroft, I395 and I495 Interchange and Ballston.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. && LAT
