PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.
DAY ONE
Through Tonight. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening across the southern Texas Panhandle. Storms could produce gusty winds and lightning, which potentially could start a few fires. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Palo Duro Canyon and portions of the southeastern Texas Panhandle for temperatures of 105-109.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday. Hot temperatures will prevail this weekend with the hottest temperatures likely on Monday. Heat Advisories will likely be continued through the weekend into early next week. Chances of thunderstorms increase through mid next week, primarily in the evening hours. At this time severe weather is not anticipated.
