This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North Carolina
east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight Heat index values will approach or exceed 100 this afternoon for much of the area outside of the higher elevations, with the highest values mainly across the Knoxville Metro and south. See the heat advisory for more details. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday Afternoon heat index values will approach or exceed 100 for much of the area outside of the higher elevations again on Friday, with the highest values likely across the southern and central valley areas. See the heat advisory for more details. Dangerous heat will persist into Saturday. A few storms may become strong to severe with damaging winds the primary threat Friday afternoon mainly across the north, and then again on Saturday across the entire area. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ FRIDAY
WHAT
Afternoon heat index values will reach or exceed 100 across much of the area, with some locations peaking around 107. WHERE
A portion of East Tennessee, primarily in valley locations, including the Sequatchie Valley, will be most likely to approach heat indices near or slightly above 105F during the peak heat of the late afternoon hours. WHEN
Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Friday. IMPACTS
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. &&
