At 644 AM CDT /544 AM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 7 miles north of Herreid to over Lebanon, or extending from 7 miles north of Herreid to 10 miles northeast of Gettysburg, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Today and tonight. Behind a front passing through today, winds turn northwesterly and increase. By this afternoon, gusts will reach as high as 45 to 55 miles per hour. As a result, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 11 AM MDT this morning through 12 AM MDT Tuesday morning. Use extra caution, as winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of these winds and humidity below 40 percent will create elevated fire weather concerns. Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the Very High category this afternoon.
