Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina
WHEN
Until 1100 AM EDT. IMPACTS
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- At 923 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Combination of high tides and heavy rainfall could lead to minor flooding across the City of Charleston and low lying coastal communities for the next hour until tides begin to fall. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include
North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, James Island, West Ashley, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, Fort Sumter, I-26/I-526 Interchange, Daniel Island and Hollywood.

COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING
HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING

For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level along shorelines and tidal waterways (7.1 to 7.3 feet Mean Lower Low Water at Charleston). For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. WHERE

For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 AM EDT this morning. For the High Rip Current Risk, through this evening. IMPACTS
This could result in some roads becoming impassable. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
High tide will occur around 9:15 AM this morning at Charleston. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Visit water.weather.gov for additional water level and flood impact information. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
