Isolated thunderstorms may continue through the morning hours but coverage is expected to gradually become less into early afternoon. Additional storms are likely to develop along and south of Interstate 40 by mid afternoon and persist through mid evening as they move south. A few severe storms are possible with damaging downburst winds the primary concern. Storm chances continue into the overnight hours with chances expanding northward and including much of eastern Oklahoma. The late night storms are not expected to be severe. Low thunderstorm chances are forecast again Friday into early Saturday morning across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Another chance for thunderstorms is forecast across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday night into Monday morning. While widespread severe weather is not expected with any of this storm activity, isolated severe storms will remain possible with strong outflow winds the primary hazard. Though not as intense as the heat observed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, dangerous heat is expected to persist into next week with afternoon heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees across portions of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
