Hot temperatures and increasing heat stress will develop this afternoon across portions northeast Oklahoma into portions of west central Arkansas. Early day showers and increases cloud cover have kept temperatures slightly cooler than recent days however hot weather is likely to return this afternoon. A slight chance of thunderstorms will continue this afternoon and evening across the region with storm chances increasing across northeast Oklahoma toward sunrise Saturday. A brief severe storm could remain possible through evening with storms late tonight also posing a limited risk of severe weather. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT

The weather pattern through early next week will remain unsettled with daily thunderstorm chances. Periodic severe weather potential may also develop with locally strong winds the primary hazard. Heat stress will also remain a concern away from any widespread rainfall event.
