Scattered thunderstorms will continue into this evening, primarily for parts of southeast Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Storms will likely expand in coverage from late evening into the overnight hours primarily across western Arkansas into southeast Oklahoma. Severe weather is unlikely, however locally heavy rainfall may lead to nuisance ponding of water and minor flooding. Be mindful of low water crossings in the hilly terrain. Scattered thunderstorms may be ongoing Friday across parts of western Arkansas and far southeast Oklahoma before dissipating or spreading east of the local region. Another chance of thunderstorms will arrive Saturday as storms may spread southward into the region. Hot weather will steadily return to the forecast area through the weekend and dangerous heat index values are likely through at least the middle of next week.
