Heat and heat stress conditions remain for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Thursday with heat index of 100 to 108 degrees forecast. Also this afternoon, low thunderstorm chances develop generally for southeast and far eastern Oklahoma as well as northwest Arkansas. A potential for isolated strong downburst wind gusts exists with the afternoon storms. Storm chances decrease after sunset this evening from the loss of daytime heating. Dangerous heat along with fire weather danger remain the main weather concerns into the weekend. At this time, Saturday has a higher fire weather danger ahead of a cold front forecast to move into the region Sunday and Monday. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase late Saturday night and Sunday for northeast Oklahoma, and then spread over eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday night into Monday.
