Ongoing dangerous heat and heat stress persist into Sunday while a weak frontal boundary sags southward into the region. Moisture pooling along this boundary will help to create heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees and locally higher again Sunday afternoon. Isolated to scattered shower and thunderstorm chances develop with the frontal boundary Sunday late afternoon and remain possible into Monday. Localized strong downburst winds look to be the main threat with the stronger storms. The greater potential is forecast over northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. Additional storm chances return during the second half of next week as the ridge of high pressure tries to retreat westward. Even with the rain chances through the upcoming week, hot and humid conditions remain forecast as well for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
