Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon primarily along and south of Interstate 40. A few storms could become severe weather damaging downburst winds the primary hazard. Storms will decrease by mid to late evening. Dangerous heat is ongoing across the region today with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees common across much of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Thunderstorm chances continue Friday into Saturday across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Another chance for thunderstorms is forecast across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday night into Monday morning. Isolated severe storms will be possible with strong outflow winds the primary hazard. Though not as intense as the heat observed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, dangerous heat is expected to persist into next week with afternoon heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees across portions of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
