Unseasonably warm temperatures, low humidity values, and light winds will produce localized higher grassland fire spread rates this afternoon. The stronger winds will generally be along and northwest of Interstate 44 through the afternoon hours. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT

Winds will increase Sunday and Monday which will increase grassland fire spread rates and raise fire weather concerns for portions of the region. Thunderstorm chances increase late Tuesday and become more widespread Wednesday through Thursday. Severe weather and locally heavy rain potential may develop during this time frame and later forecasts will refine the details.
