Heat stress impacts will continue on Monday with widespread afternoon heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees. Additionally, isolated afternoon thunderstorms are forecast today across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Any storms that do develop will be capable of locally strong winds. Dangerous heat will continue Tuesday and Wednesday with near record high temperatures. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible both days. A slow moving cold front will arrive Wednesday night through Thursday. Showers and scattered thunderstorms are likely to spread along and north of the front with the highest rain chances generally along and north of Interstate 40. Cooler temperatures are expected Thursday into Friday with hot weather likely to return by next weekend. Daily thunderstorm chances continue into next weekend but uncertainty remains high with how the weather pattern will transition in the wake of the mid week cold front. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
