Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop by late morning or early afternoon across parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas and move south with time through the afternoon and early evening. A few storms may become severe, with damaging winds and possibly large hail being the main threats. Afternoon heat index values will climb into the 100 to 105 degree range today across much of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT

Dangerous heat will continue for much of the upcoming week, with afternoon heat index values in the 100 to 110 degree range each day.
