Isolated higher-based thunderstorms are occurring across eastern Oklahoma this morning. Severe weather is not expected with this activity. Isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected across southeast Oklahoma along a front. Severe weather is not expected, but storms could produce gusty winds to 40 or 50 mph. Dangerous heat is expected today mainly along and south of Interstate 40, where afternoon heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees are forecast. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT

Low thunderstorm chances are forecast again across southeast Oklahoma Friday afternoon and Friday night into early Saturday morning across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Another chance for thunderstorms is forecast across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday night into Monday morning. Organized severe weather is not expected with any of this storm activity. Though not as intense as the heat observed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, dangerous heat is expected to persist into next week with afternoon heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees across portions of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
