A slow-moving cold front is moving through northeast Oklahoma with widely scattered thunderstorms developing near the front. Coverage of thunderstorms is expected to increase through the afternoon and into the evening and spreading south and southeast with time. Some of the storms may be strong to severe, with primarily a locally damaging wind threat. Heavy rain potential will also exist. Intensity will likely wane toward late evening and into early Monday morning, although some thunderstorms with lightning potential are expected to linger. In advance of the front, increasing low level moisture combined with continued well above normal temperatures will lead to peak heat index values from 100 to 105 in some locations, roughly along and south of Interstate 44. In the wake of the cold front, temperatures closer to seasonal average are forecast for the week.
