Ongoing. DISCUSSION
Another hot day will continue across eastern Oklahoma and west- central Arkansas as highs once again soar into the triple digits and heat index values range from 103 to 108 degrees. By mid to late afternoon, isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop in the vicinity of a weak boundary draped across far northern Oklahoma. Sufficient instability and shear will exist for at least a few storms to become more organized into the evening. The main impact looks to be damaging downburst wind gusts from mainly high based thunderstorms, with wind gusts up to 70 mph possible with the strongest downburst. Activity should largely stay confined to northeast Oklahoma and into far northwest Arkansas as the boundary remains mostly stationary. Additional thunderstorm development along the front will continue into the overnight hours, potentially leading to a localized heavy rainfall threat where storms move over the same areas impact by earlier activity. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible again Friday afternoon and evening, mainly across southeast Oklahoma and west central Arkansas as the weak boundary progresses southward through the region. A few storms could be strong to severe again Friday afternoon and evening, with damaging wind gusts the main concerns along with locally heavy rainfall. Otherwise, the main story for the weekend and into next week will be continued hot conditions across the region.
