Early Afternoon. DISCUSSION
Scattered high-based thunderstorms are occurring across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas early this monring. Severe weather is not expected with these storms, and the storms are expected to dissipate by mid to late morning. Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop by late afternoon, with some increase in storm coverage likely later this evening and overnight. Organized severe weather is not expected, but the stronger storms will produce gusty winds to near 50 miles an hour. Dangerous heat is expected again this afternoon, mainly across eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas, where heat index values from 105 to 110 degrees are expected. Thunderstorm chances will continue through the weekend, with the greatest storm coverage expected on Saturday. A few marginally severe storms will be possible mainly Saturday afternoon and evening. Dangerous heat will continue for much of the next week, with afternoon heat index values from 100 to 110 degrees each day.
