This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma.

Ongoing. DISCUSSION
Dangerously hot conditions continue this afternoon across almost all of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Heat index values above 110 remain likely across most of northeast Oklahoma and along the Interstate 40 corridor, with values from 105 to 110 in much of the rest of the area. Conditions may begin to improve prior to early evening across far northern parts of the region as a weak cold front moves slowly into the area this afternoon. In addition to the continued heat stress concerns, widely scattered thunderstorm development may occur late this afternoon and into the early evening hours in the vicinity of the aforementioned front. Widespread severe weather is not anticipated, but the stronger storms may produce downburst winds that approach marginally severe levels. Additional showers and thunderstorms may approach the northern half of the area from the west early Monday morning with a lesser threat for downburst winds. Additional low shower and storm chances exist during the day Monday while the weak frontal boundary sags southward through eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Strong to near severe downburst winds are the main threat with the stronger storms. Behind the boundary, a minor cool down to areas north of Interstate 40 are forecast Monday, while heat stress conditions persist along and south of Interstate 40. Any break in the heat will be short-lived with very hot conditions returning areawide likely for Tuesday and especially Wednesday. Low storm chances return during the second half of the week with another frontal boundary potentially approaching the region.
