A cluster of heavy showers producing rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will continue to shift slowly to the east-southeast this evening. Locations impacted include
Point Pleasant, Ripley, Spencer, Pomeroy, Glenville, Elizabeth, Racine, Grantsville, Ravenswood, New Haven, Mason, Sandyville, Middleport, Syracuse, Hartford City, Henderson, Reedy, Cheshire, Cherry, and Smithville. This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 131 and 165. Heavy rain may cause ponding of water on roadways and flooding in low-lying areas. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away. && LAT

FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM EDT FRIDAY FOR NORTHEASTERN GALLIA, CENTRAL JACKSON AND WEST CENTRAL MEIGS COUNTIES
At 926 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. HAZARD

Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include
Jackson, Vinton, Salem Center and Petersburg.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
