COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING
WHAT
Two to 2 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. WHERE
Northeast Suffolk County. WHEN
Until 6 PM EDT this evening. COASTAL IMPACTS
Locally moderate flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. SHOREFRONT/BEACH IMPACTS
Breaking waves of 4 to 8 feet, along with elevated water levels, will result in areas of dune erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures. Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. && Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
