This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas.
DAY ONE
This Afternoon and Tonight. Heat index values near 100 or slightly above 100 degrees are possible during the afternoon-early evening hours today for mainly southeast portions of the forecast area. Scattered thunderstorms are possible beginning around midnight tonight and continuing through the overnight hours mainly for areas along and west and north of the Tri-Cities. The strongest storms will be capable of producing wind gusts around 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Tuesday through Sunday. Thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into western portions of the area early Tuesday evening and continue into Tuesday night. Some of these storms may be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds. Afternoon heat index values around 100 to 103 degrees will be possible across mainly southern portions of the forecast area each afternoon Tuesday through Sunday.
