This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas.
DAY ONE
This Afternoon and Tonight. A Heat Advisory is in effect for areas near and southeast of a line from Alma, NE to Osceola, NE. Heat index values as high as 107 degrees are expected this afternoon.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday. The Heat Advisory continues Friday and Saturday, with afternoon heat index values peaking in the 102 to 107 degree range. Next week will trend cooler, but some parts of northern Kansas may still see heat index values over 100 degrees Sunday through Wednesday. There is a low chance for an isolated thunderstorm late Friday afternoon through Friday evening, mainly west of Highway 281. The threat for severe weather is low. Off and on chances for thunderstorms continue through the holiday weekend and into next week. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. &&
