HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.
DAY ONE
This afternoon and tonight. Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the Internet for more information about the following hazards. Heat Advisory. In addition, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The main hazard is damaging wind. Locally heavy rain may also occur.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday. There is a slight risk of flash flooding Friday into Friday night. Isolated flash flooding will be possible, especially in urban areas and areas with poor drainage. In addition, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms. The primary hazard is damaging wind, with a secondary threat of large hail.

SOUTHEASTERN HALIFAX AND NORTHERN WILSON COUNTIES THROUGH 345 PM EDT
At 224 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles southeast of Halifax to near Bailey. Movement was northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD
Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include
Rocky Mount, Tarboro, Nashville, Wilson, Scotland Neck, Elm City, Dortches, Bailey, Red Oak, and Enfield. This includes the following highways
Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 150 and 119. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 30 and 37, and between Mile Markers 50 and 56.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. && LAT

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
