This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Limited lightning risk. Elevated extreme heat risk. Limited excessive rainfall risk DISCUSSION
There is a 15 to 50 percent chance for a couple showers and perhaps a thunderstorm early this morning west of I-49 and east of Highway 63. Late this afternoon, there is a 40 to 50 percent chance for scattered thunderstorms east of Highway 65 after 2 PM this afternoon and through 10 PM this evening. Heavy downpours, localized flooding, and downburst wind gusts up to 60 to 70 mph are all possible with stronger storms this afternoon. Some areas are expected to see Heat Index values above 100 today, mainly south of Highway 60.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Saturday through Thursday. Heat index values around 100 to 105 degrees will persist through next week. Longevity of elevated heat with only limited relief during the night will elevate heat risk as we go through next week.
