This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.
DAY ONE
This Afternoon and Tonight A prolonged heat wave continues to produce dangerously hot and humid conditions. Please see the Extreme Heat Warning for details. A Heat Advisory is in effect starting tonight at 8 PM for Carter, Ripley, Butler, Stoddard, New Madrid, and Fulton counties for excessive heat with continued warm low temperatures overnight. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible throughout the Quad State this afternoon and evening. Lightning, locally heavy rainfall, and gusty winds will be the primary concerns. However, a few severe storms with damaging winds cannot be ruled out over the Evansville Tri State and the Pennyrile Region of west Kentucky.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday Heat index values may reach 100 to 105 on Sunday over portions of southeast Missouri, especially near the Current River. See the Heat Advisory for details. The extreme heat, low humidity, and rapidly drying vegetation may result in increased fire starts through the holiday weekend and into next week. Small chances of thunderstorms are forecast over portions of the Quad State Wednesday night through Friday morning.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
