DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk. Limited lightning risk. Elevated extreme heat risk. Limited excessive rainfall risk. Elevated fire weather risk. DISCUSSION
Hot temperatures will continue today with highs in the middle 90s to around 100 degrees. Heat index values will reach the 100 to 110 degree range across southeastern Kansas and southern Missouri. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening. A few strong to severe storms with damaging winds will be possible. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase from north to south this evening and tonight mainly north of Interstate 44. Some locally heavy rainfall will be possible tonight into Thursday morning. Increasing southerly winds and low humidity will create an elevated fire risk across portions of southeastern Kansas and southwestern Missouri today.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Thursday through Tuesday. Showers and storms will continue to move south through the area on Thursday. A few strong to severe storm with damaging winds will be possible on Thursday mainly across portions of south central Missouri. Additional shower and thunderstorm chances, 30 to 70 percent, will be possible across portions of the area this weekend.
