Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. WHERE
Southern Adams County in west central Illinois
Southeastern Knox County in northeastern Missouri
Southern Lewis County in northeastern Missouri
Marion County in northeastern Missouri
Shelby County in northeastern Missouri
WHEN
Until 345 AM CDT. IMPACTS
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- At 1245 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include
Quincy, Hannibal, Palmyra, Monroe City, Shelbina, Quincy Regional Airport, Warren, Payson, Mendon, La Grange, Clarence, Shelbyville, Fall Creek, Ewing, Beverly, Philadelphia, Maywood, Emden, Steffenville and Plevna.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. && LAT
