DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk. Limited lightning risk. Limited extreme heat risk. Elevated fire weather risk. DISCUSSION
Well above-normal heat with temperatures in the upper 90s and heat indices between 100 and 105 degrees continues today, with a Heat Advisory in effect across far southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri until 8PM tonight. Afternoon relative humidity values will drop to 25-35% today, with southwest winds between 10-18 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Gustiest winds will be west of Highway 65, while driest conditions will generally stay contained to south-central Missouri. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along a cold front in Kansas this evening and move into southeast Kansas and west central Missouri late tonight into Sunday morning.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday. Slow-moving frontal passage Sunday into Monday will bring shower and thunderstorm chances, with the potential for a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening. The strongest storms could be capable of damaging winds up to 50-60 mph and hail the size of quarters, with a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) Risk of severe weather across much of the area on Sunday.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. &&
