Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk. Limited lightning risk. Elevated extreme heat risk. DISCUSSION
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area today. A few of the stronger storms could produce frequent lightning and downburst winds up to 60mph this afternoon and evening. Hot temperatures are likely with highs in the upper 90s to lower 100s with heat indicies between 100 and 105 degrees.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Monday through Saturday. A weak frontal boundary moving from the northeast to the southwest Monday will result in somewhat lower heat indices, though southeast Kansas into southwest Missouri will once again see triple digit indices. Any relief from this frontal boundary will be short lived with widespread heat indices around 100 noted Tuesday into Wednesday before another boundary brings the potential for thunderstorms and not quite as hot temperatures for the later part of the week into next weekend.
