This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Limited non thunderstorm wind risk. Elevated to significant fire weather risk. DISCUSSION
Elevated to locally significant fire weather conditions will continue into this evening as a dry air mass and gusty winds combine. Winds will continue to increase out of the southwest this afternoon and especially this evening with gusts of 30 to 40 mph occurring at times. The gusty winds will occur into the overnight hours and will weaken by sunrise. The strongest winds will be along and northwest of I-44.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday. The next chance of precipitation comes Sunday. There is a 50 to 80 percent chance for a quick line of showers and some thunderstorms to move through during the day Sunday, bringing a 15 percent chance for wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, mainly east of Highway 65. Additionally with this system, wind gusts up to 35 to 45 mph will be possible along with light snow late Sunday evening and night.
