Limited lightning risk. Limited extreme heat risk. Elevated excessive rainfall risk DISCUSSION
There is a 15 to 20 percent chance for thunderstorms this afternoon mainly east of Highway 65. The main concern if any storms were to develop would be lightning.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Monday through Saturday. Additional scattered thunderstorm chances will then occur at times next week. Highs in the 90s with heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected during the upcoming work week. A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of south-central Missouri, southwest Missouri, and extreme southeast Kansas for Monday and Tuesday, though Moderate to Major heat-related risks may continue through at least Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Abnormally hot temperatures will progress from west to east over the course of Monday into Tuesday, bringing Heat Index values up to 100 to 105 across portions of the area each day.
