This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk. Limited lightning risk. Limited extreme heat risk. DISCUSSION
Heat indicies this afternoon will reach the upper 90s to around 100 this afternoon and evening west of Springfield. Showers and thunderstorms will approach southeast Kansas after 5am Saturday. Lightning and gusty winds will occur in the stronger storms as they move in. Most locations across southwest Missouri will remain dry.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Saturday through Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will move through southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri Saturday morning. Frequent lightning and damaging wind gusts to 60 mph could occur in a few storms west of Springfield however the overall severe threat remains very low. Heat indicies in the 90s to around 100 will be common at times this weekend into next week with the highest values west of Springfield.
