Gusty Winds Expected Today with the Remnants of Hurricane Isaias
A period of strong wind gusts is expected on today as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move into eastern Kentucky. Southeasterly winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph are expected. Isolated gusts up to around 40 mph are possible in exposed areas near Lake Cumberland. The strongest winds are expected from late morning through the afternoon and should coincide with the arrival of the leading bands of rain. Once rainfall becomes steady, winds will lighten. The gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and decor.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for a portion of eastern Kentucky.
DAY ONE
Today and tonight. Breezy conditions can be expected from this afternoon into the evening with southeasterly gusts up to 35 mph expected for most locations. A few isolated higher gusts cannot be ruled out. There is also a low chance of thunderstorms this afternoon through tonight. Some of these storms could produce briefly heavy rainfall.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday. Thunderstorms are possible on Sunday morning and also from Wednesday through Thursday night.
