PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central Kansas, east central Kansas, south central Kansas and southeast Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight A few showers and thunderstorms could linger over portions of south-central and southeast Kansas this morning. Severe weather is not expected.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Tuesday through Sunday Additional thunderstorm chances are possible Tuesday night, mainly along and northeast of a line extending from Russell to Newton to Chanute, with a few strong thunderstorms possible. Thunderstorm chances will be present areawide Wednesday night. Heat indices between 100 and 105 degrees are expected to return Tuesday afternoon areawide, and again over southern Kansas Wednesday afternoon.
