Greenleaf Elementary School Weather Advisories
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas.
DAY ONE
This Afternoon into Tonight. Heat indices from near 100 to 108 degrees will prevail across the local area this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for north central Kansas through this evening where the highest heat index values are most likely. There is a small chance for thunderstorms to move in from the west or northwest late this evening or overnight, with a general weakening trend expected as they do so. A few storms may be strong and produce gusty winds, but widespread severe weather is unlikely.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Wednesday through Monday. Heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees are expected across areas mainly along and south of the Nebraska/Kansas state line Wednesday afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Jewell, Osborne, and Mitchell Counties Wednesday afternoon and evening where peak heat indices near 105 degrees are most likely. Better thunderstorm chances return to the entire forecast area Wednesday evening through Monday. Some of the storms Wednesday night could be severe with hail to the size of quarters and wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible. At least a limited severe risk may persist into the weekend, but details remain highly uncertain at this time. && More information may be obtained at the following web page: https://www.weather.gov/hastings
