DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected
Significant extreme heat risk. DISCUSSION
Highs will once again range in the upper 90s to low 100s this afternoon, with heat index values around 105 to 110 degrees. Tonight will offer little to no relief from the extreme heat, as overnight lows remain in the mid 70s to low 80s.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday. Heat index values around 105 to 110 degrees will persist across the area through Sunday. Longevity of extreme heat with limited relief during the night will elevate the heat risk and potential impacts. Extensive periods of hot temperatures, somewhat dry air, and a bit of breezy winds may lead to quick drying of fuels and locally elevated fire weather. Shower and thunderstorm chances (20 to 50 percent) will occur across portions of the area Sunday night into Monday morning. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall will be possible. Additional rain chances (10-30 percent), will return late next week.
