Athens School Weather Advisory
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight. Thunderstorms will continue across portions of the area this morning but are not expected to be severe. Wind gusts up to around 40 to 50 MPH and hail around pea size will be possible with the strongest storms this morning. Strong to severe storms may develop and move across portions of the area this evening into tonight. There is some uncertainty where these storms may develop but the area of greatest risk is across north central Kansas and the south central Nebraska counties along the Kansas border. Hail up to 1.5 inches and wind gusts up to 60 to 70 MPH will be the main threats with these storms. Heat index values today across portions of north central Kansas may get up to 100 to 104 degrees.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Wednesday through Monday. Another round of thunderstorms is expected Wednesday evening, and a few of these could become strong to severe. Hail up to quarter size and wind gusts up to 60 MPH will be possible. Off and on chances for thunderstorms continue Thursday through Monday.
