This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast Illinois.
DAY ONE
Tonight. A few thunderstorms are possible this evening. Some of these storms may produce damaging winds. Areas of heavy rain tonight may lead to ponding of water in low lying areas. Outside of the storms, the heat index is expected to reach around 100 degrees late this afternoon.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Thursday through Tuesday. Scattered thunderstorms will continue into Thursday, though they will diminish from north to south through the day. While these are not expected to be severe, some locally heavy rain may linger through the morning south of I-70. There is a 50 to 70 percent chance that total rainfall from this system will be over an inch. Another surge of heat is expected on Tuesday, with the heat index reaching around 100 degrees.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Spotter activation may be needed this evening until around 9 pm. Expected storm motion is toward the east-southeast around 35 mph.
