This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central Illinois
northwest Illinois
west central Illinois
east central Iowa
northeast Iowa
southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri.
DAY ONE
TODAY AND TONIGHT Showers and some thunderstorms will be seen today and again tonight, especially along and north of Interstate 80. No severe storms are expected but brief downpours are possible from the stronger storms.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY Hot and humid conditions will return for much of the work week. The peak of the heat currently looks to be Tuesday into Wednesday. Heat indices will range from the mid 90s to potentially 100 or higher south of Interstate 80. A near daily risk of thunderstorms will be possible along the edge of the heat dome. Thunderstorms, some potentially strong, are possible Monday night and again on Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal, level 1 out of 5, risk of severe storms along and north of Interstate 80 for Monday and Tuesday. Damaging winds and hail would be the primary risks.
