This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Illinois, east central Illinois, southeast Illinois and west central Illinois.
DAY ONE
Today and tonight. While a few thunderstorms are possible during the day, primarily north of I-70, better chances are expected beginning this evening. A few of the storms may produce damaging winds. Areas of heavy rain tonight may lead to ponding of water in low lying areas. Outside of the storms, the heat index is expected to reach around 100 degrees today.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Thursday through Tuesday. Scattered thunderstorms will continue into Thursday, though they will diminish from north to south through the day. While these are not expected to be severe, some locally heavy rain may linger through the morning south of I-70. There is a 50 to 70 percent chance that total rainfall from this system will be over an inch. Another surge of heat is expected on Tuesday, with the heat index reaching around 100 degrees.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Spotter activation may be needed from mid afternoon into early evening.
