PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. &&

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Wednesday through Monday A Heat Advisory is in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Please refer to the National Weather Service website at weather.gov/desmoines for further details. Late season heat and humidity will persist from Thursday through the weekend, but with some relative breaks at times. Low thunderstorm chances are forecast at times from Thursday morning onward. The threat of severe weather is generally low, but a few strong storms cannot be ruled out.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Spotter activation is not anticipated. && NWS Des Moines will discontinue the Hazardous Weather Outlook product (HWO) on September 30th, 2026. Weather hazards and outlooks will continue to be provided through the standard forecast channels, including weather briefing packets, forecast discussions, weather story graphics, the experimental graphical hazardous weather outlook, and updated hazard messaging.
