This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.
DAY ONE
Today and tonight Scattered thunderstorms will linger off and on throughout the day and may result in periods of heavy rain. Additional thunderstorms develop across southern and central Iowa late tonight and into early Sunday morning. A few stronger storms may produce gusty wind or small hail in addition to the risk for pockets of heavy rain.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday After a lull in activity during the day on Sunday, renewed thunderstorms are expected Sunday evening through Monday. Heavy rain will result in continued flooding concerns.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Spotter activation will not be needed. && NWS Des Moines will discontinue the Hazardous Weather Outlook product (HWO) on September 30th, 2026. Weather hazards and outlooks will continue to be provided through the standard forecast channels, including weather briefing packets, forecast discussions, weather story graphics, the experimental graphical hazardous weather outlook, and updated hazard messaging.
