Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. &&

DAY ONE
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT Hot and humid conditions will continue with heat indices of 95 to 105. Little relief from the heat will be seen overnight. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the Interstate 80 corridor on south. A Heat Advisory remains in effect north of Interstate 80. Thunderstorms are possible along and north of the Highway 30 corridor through this evening. No severe storms are expected but cloud to ground lightning and brief downpours are possible. Another round of thunderstorms is possible late tonight after midnight for areas mainly north of Interstate 80. No severe storms are currently expected but lightning, small hail and brief downpours are possible.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY The heat and humidity will continue through the work week and into the first half of the weekend. Peak heat indices of 95 to 105 are expected. The Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect along and south of Interstate 80s through Friday. A Heat Advisory remains in effect north of Interstate 80 through Thursday evening. There is a daily risk of thunderstorms with areas north of Interstate 80 being favored. The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal, level 1 out of 5, Risk for severe storms both Thursday and Friday. The primary risk is damaging winds with hail a secondary risk.
