DAY ONE
This afternoon and tonight There is a chance of thunderstorms late tonight, after midnight. The threat of severe weather is low.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Tuesday through Sunday Thunderstorms are likely at times on Tuesday into Tuesday night, lingering in southern Iowa into Wednesday. There is a Marginal Risk of severe storms Tuesday afternoon and evening, with hail and gusty winds the primary threats. Locally heavy rainfall is also expected, which could lead to isolated flooding. Thunderstorm chances return to the forecast from Friday through the weekend. Any severe weather potential during this time will be assessed in the coming days.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Spotter activation will not be needed. && NWS Des Moines will discontinue the Hazardous Weather Outlook product (HWO) on September 30th, 2026. Weather hazards and outlooks will continue to be provided through the standard forecast channels, including weather briefing packets, forecast discussions, weather story graphics, the experimental graphical hazardous weather outlook, and updated hazard messaging.
