This afternoon and tonight Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in southern Iowa through mid evening. The severe risk is low overall, but a few strong to severe storms are possible with the main threats of damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall. A few funnel clouds are also possible.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Thursday through Tuesday Occasional storm chances persist through the end of the week, including Thursday night and Friday night.

Spotter activation may be needed today in southern Iowa.

Funnel clouds are possible due to current atmospheric conditions. These funnel clouds are typically brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely become a tornado or cause damage. WHERE
