PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Heat index values will peak over 100 degrees across the area this through this evening. Please exercise caution if spending extended time or doing strenuous activity outdoors. Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. A few storms may be strong to severe across north GA, capable of producing damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Sunday through Friday
Heat index values will exceed 100 degrees for much of the area again on Sunday. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected Sunday afternoon and evening. Several storms may be strong to severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.
