Heat index values will peak over 100 degrees across the area this through this evening. Please exercise caution if spending extended time or doing strenuous activity outdoors. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will remain possible in central and parts of far north Georgia through this evening. A few could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Saturday through Thursday
Heat index values will exceed 100 degrees for much of the area through Sunday. Daily afternoon thunderstorm chances continue over the weekend into early next week. A few of these could be strong to severe, with the primary risks being strong wind gusts, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
